Beginning each project with an intrinsic curiosity about what drives our client’s aspirations, we’ve established a broad platform for the delivery of unique projects across a range of scales, disciplines, and typologies.

“The ambition of their projects push materials to do more than typical.”

Our Story

In 2004, Founding Partners, Adam Montalbano and Roman Torres, shaped a design-build thesis project while still graduate students at the University of Pennsylvania. The result was Moto. In 2011 we expanded our leadership team to add Eric Oskey as a Partner and Technical Director. Two decades later, we continue to draw on our roots in fabrication and construction to guide a human-centric design process that is always focused on our devotion to craft.

Leadership

Moto’s principals harness the power of their diverse and collective backgrounds to develop the full potential of each project. Their collaborative approach brings the conceptual, professional, and technical talents needed to deliver thoughtful, well-crafted spaces.

Roman Torres

Founding Partner, Design Director

As Design Director, Roman sets the creative direction for the studio and brings his design vision to all projects. His approach to architecture is informed by his artistic sensibilities and curiosity for the culture and context of Moto’s clients, coupled with a drive to represent those complexities in ways large and small, tangible and intangible, in the resulting work. Roman’s range of design thinking and creative problem solving bring a constant exploration of new technologies and methodologies that define the collective portfolio of the firm.

Adam Montalbano, AIA

Founding Partner, Managing Director

As Managing Partner, Adam oversees the operations of the studio and leads Moto’s residential, historic, and interior design projects. His approach to material composition and coordination is responsible for Moto’s unique pallet, balancing the opportunities of contemporary design with the well-known benefits of classically rooted design fundamentals. With a deep knowledge of zoning requirements and construction practicalities, he has aided in delivering nuanced solutions to numerous development projects.

Eric Oskey, AIA

Partner, Technical Director

As Technical Director, Eric brings into being Moto’s creative vision through the sophisticated application of assemblies, material science, building systems, and construction knowledge. Joining the firm in 2012, his substantial previous experience, which includes working at the Pritzker Prize winning office of Venturi Scott Brown, allows him to efficiently lead our large-scale and institutional projects, while navigating their intricate dynamics.

Diversity & Inclusion

Moto is an MBE-certified, BIPOC-led firm committed to diversity and inclusiveness in the workplace and across our project teams. The multicultural background of our principals and staff is testament to our support for improving interactions across backgrounds, countries, and cultures.

Recognition

Throughout our two decades of practice, we’ve been honored to receive consistent recognition from publications, industry partners, and national organizations. We see this as testament to our passion for sensible and artful solutions to design challenges and a reminder to continually focus on the creative solutions that support the wellbeing of our clients and communities.
