Cadence House
Commissioned by a local developer, the home’s façade is designed as a permeable surface with several primary functions in a single, simplified design.
Afternoon southern light is delicately filtered through the scrim to minimize solar gain and reduce energy costs. A slight skew in the masonry orientation provides privacy from an adjacent industrial property while shifting views outward toward Broad Street. The upper floors contain primary and secondary bedrooms with an open-air terrace within the depth of the façade.
The interior design was intended to be luxurious and contemporary. The home’s liberal employment of dark materials, dynamic façade shading, and set backs contribute to its heightened drama and privacy.
